Forever Valentino

A significant perspective exhibition honoring Maison Valentino's founder Valentino Garavani and its still-evolving legacy of excellence in Haute Couture will be on view in "Forever Valentino."

Under the creative direction of Pierpaolo Piccioli of Valentino, the Italian curator Massimiliano Gioni and the British fashion critic and author Alexander Fury created an imaginative curatorial project, a moving emotional promenade through the Valentino archives, in which themes, chronology, and heritage references were blurred. That was paradoxical yet remained coherent and visually stunning. Piccioli described it as "not a retrospective, but a perspective" at an onsite screening. He did not aim for a celebratory exhibition of the past, but rather a sort of harmonic composition, a narrative rich in layers that reflect the many conversations that have shaped the house's identity, "whose spirit," he noted, "is intrinsically timeless." This was in keeping with his approach, which values the creative tension between modernity and tradition, classicism and rebellion, and exclusivity and inclusion.

"Forever Valentino," a breathtaking theatrical production, explores the Haute Couture traditions of the Maison, a journey through Rome, Valentino's hometown, and the origin of its identity.

"The exhibition's name tells it all,” Piccioli says.

"Forever."

The significance of Maison Valentino is enduring; it shows this by being true to itself. The efforts of a designer named Valentino Garavani, whose vision is still significant today, made this 60-year adventure feasible. Valentino’s conscious legacy has always been forward-looking, focused on the complicated human experience and the future.

The partnership is a part of Qatar Creates, a year-round cultural initiative coordinated by Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar's sister, who is responsible for promoting Qatar's cultural initiatives. Piccioli served as a judge for the Fashion Trust Arabia Prize 2022, which was held earlier this week in Doha and honored outstanding fashion designers from the MENA area.
