The tiger managed to bring us a terrific year full of intriguing collaborations, bizarre campaigns, and unforgettable runway shows. As 2022 comes to a close, let's look back at some of the most memorable moments of the year.
Miu Miu
Miu Miu has every right to be opening our list after being crowned as a brand of the year. Their grand opening of the Fall - Spring collection, absolutely dominated the fashion trends of 2022 and birthed the new wave of upcycling. The micro-mini set was worn by everyone, starting from worldwide known actors to TikTok influencers. According to Lyst, the brand’s product ranked number one for searches and purchases this year, in other words, the mini-skirts became the most coveted designer item in 2022.

Samsung
Long-time Apple rival has also captured media attention in 2022 with the launching of the Z Flip 4. The first Samsung foldable phone debuted back in 2021, however, after significant design changes the Z Flip 4 set the bar by exhibiting how unwaveringly cutting-edge technological choices should be made. This year, the company also demonstrated its versatility by collaborating with haute couture house Maison Margiela and producing a highly exclusive phone designed by the French brand. So, until Apple decides to step up its game, Samsung will remain ahead of them through innovation.

Valentino Pink
We still can't forget the iconic all-black and pink runway show occurring in Paris during fashion week, where Valentino introduced their new Fall-Winter collection. The bold and unwavering choice of a hot pink color helped the public to intensify their senses and forced them to examine each garment's surface embellishment, neckline, and silhouette, instead of concentrating on "looks". There's no need to go into detail about how successful the event was; all that remains is to highlight the unforeseen internet trend that popularised the Barbie core aesthetic. Many contend as well that the next year's color, Viva Magenta, was chosen after Valentino's show.

Bella Hadid and Coperni Fashion Show
Social media FLOODED with videos and photos of Bella Hadid in a white thin dress that day, with everyone commenting that they were witnessing fashion history being made. And we won't try to argue against that. During Paris Fashion Week, the brand’s Spring - Summer 2023 show became revolutionary when the French fashion label Coperni used Fabrican's sprayable, liquid fiber to spray an outfit onto a model. The performance completely demolished the walls between fashion and technology, proving that the clothes are not only made to be worn but a form of art to be appreciated.

Fendace
The year 2022 saw many luxury fashion collaborations, but one of the best was undoubtedly Fendace, which is Fendi x Versace. It's not a collaboration; rather, it's a stunning fusion of two of the most recognizable names in fashion that reinterpreted timeless designs from both houses. For the first time, two big luxury houses merged to create an exclusive duet. Moving forward, many designers will certainly take inspiration from this collection and the success that surrounded it to achieve a similar result.

Loewe
Another fashion runway show that made it to our list is Loewe one. For Spring - Summer 2023, the brand continued to give a humorous perspective on design, experimenting with bouquets of flowers that bloomed on pieces of clothing alongside animated outfits inspired by '90s video games. Their ideas are always fun and fresh, smart and different from what we've seen before, and that's precisely what the fashion industry needs.

Birkenstock x Manolo Blahnik
This year, Birkenstocks decided to abandon the stereotype that their shoes are solely suitable for teachers. That’s why collaboration between Birkenstock and Manolo Blahnik makes perfect sense. It is a special collection that blends Manolo Blahnik's talent with signature designs to create pieces that have a strong, directional elegance that elevates them. No wonder Lyst named it the shoe of the year.

Jacquemus
It is not the first season that Simon Porte Jacquemus has created "loud" shows, the set decorations of which are discussed almost as much as the clothing itself. Although it was a bold move for Jacquemus and his brand, not all fashion critics praised him for choosing Hawaii as the location for his show this year. Nevertheless, the company chose not to pay attention to their concerns and instead aimed to break new ground for the industry and for each model on the show who was from this subtropical region.

Gucci
Gucci's collaboration with Adidas in 2022, was everything but mundane. The remarkable fusion of these brands ultimately led to the unmistakable harmony we refer to as couture. Alongside this collab, the fashion brand spoiled us the whole year with new releases. The Gucci Love Parade Campaign featuring Jared Leto, Miley Cyrus, and Snoop Dogg, as well as their reinterpretation of the Diana and Bamboo 1946 Bags, are just a few of many noteworthy projects that were produced this year. Alessandro Michele's vibrant, maximalist utopia has become the quintessence of Gucci’s eccentricity in recent years, and his resignation puts the brand under pressure to find someone who can carry on his legacy.

Conclusion
In the end, we can only summarize that 2022 was a year full of surprises. Numerous brands dazzled us each time they decided to step outside of the box with their innovation and creativity. But as a hungry audience for new original concepts and ideas, we can only anticipate the new year and wonder: Will they be able to step even further?
